Award-winning sculptor, DJ Garrity will lead a fascinating exploration of the stone carving process at the United States Botanical Garden in Washington D.C. from April 29-May 2, 2008. As the Sculptor-In-Residence of Mount Rushmore National Memorial, the artist has received a broad range of support for course development, which is reflected by the nationwide appeal of “The Rhythms of Stone Workshop”.

Teachers, stone masons and artists and from coast-to-coast have enjoyed the opportunity to attend this innovative workshop. The course blends stone carving technique and three-dimensional portraiture in a process that offers a unique garden sculpture with the creative imprint of the individual student. No experience is required and the workshop is appropriate for the novice or students with previous experience. In addition, the course is accredited for undergraduate, graduate and professional development credits.

Garrity who was named by Irish America Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Irish Americans” is leading workshops in 2008 at The Oregon Garden of Silverton, Oregon, The Chicago Botanical Garden, The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach and Blithewold Mansion and Gardens of Newport, Rhode Island.
