JLG LiftPod named 2013 Money-Saving Product

Words: Melissa AguiarJLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK] and a global leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announced that “BUILDINGS” magazine has selected the LiftPod® FS60 personal portable lift as a 2013 Money-Saving Product winner. The LiftPod FS60 is part of an elite group of 53 products showcased in the magazine’s June 2013 issue.

Finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS’ editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy consumption, water savings, lighting, envelope improvement, and maintenance. The LiftPod was identified as a budget-saving solution in the Labor Reducing category.

“We are happy to add this honor to others that the LiftPod FS60 has received, particularly because this award recognizes the innovative lift as an economical product that can have a positive impact on a company’s bottom line,” said Randy Marzicola, JLG Industries director of channel development. “As a proven, secure alternative to ladders, scaffolding and rolling ladders, the LiftPod improves efficiency for any job site or facility, allowing workers to perform their jobs more productively with a safe, portable and affordable solution.”

The maintenance staff at the New Orleans distribution center for Lafarge, one of the largest cement producers in the United States and Canada, would agree. When tasked with inspecting a group of storage silos, Lafarge employee Emmett Moore remarked, “We had to inspect every barrel valve, electronic component and solenoid on each of the 12 silos. Using the LiftPod, the entire inspection took only one day to complete. If we had used a ladder, we would have had to add another two days to the project.”

The LiftPod FS60 combines the portability of a ladder with the stability of a work platform and weighs just 130 pounds. One worker can complete tasks with a 360-degree range of motion from the enclosed platform and attachable work tray, eliminating the need for an OSHA-compliant two-person operation. In addition, the personal portable lift assembles in less than 30 seconds and can be moved through doorways without having to be taken apart. The LiftPod is powered by an 18-volt drill or an optional power pack for increased flexibility and affordability.
