MCA and MISL Honor Gregg Borchelt

Words: David GillickJ. Gregg Borchelt, P.E. was honored at the St. Louis Masonry Center for providing masonry education to St. Louis mason contractors, architects, code officials and engineers for over 30 years.

Borchelt, recently retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Brick Industry Association, located in Reston, VA. Since the 1980s, Borchelt has traveled annually to St. Louis, MO to share his technical expertise at the Masonry Institute of St. Louis weekly seminar series for mason contractors and the design community.

Prior to his final engineering seminar, "Loadbearing Brick Masonry," on April 29th, Borchelt was presented with a plaque, "In gratitude for your contributions to the promotion of the Masonry Industry and in recognition of outstanding performance in presenting programs at the Masonry Institute of St. Louis."

Borchelt noted that the St. Louis Masonry Center has excellent facilities and attracts attentive and appreciative audiences. He complimented the design and construction community for their interest in masonry, a key part of the built environment in St. Louis.

Throughout his career, Borchelt has donated his time as lecturer and engineering expert to advance the use of masonry and develop building codes and standards. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the ASCE/ACI/TMS Joint Committee on Masonry Standards, the American Society for Testing and Materials and the Construction Specifications Institute.
