US Markets expands used equipment services

Words: Mustafa AbadanUS Markets Inc., (USM) a wholesale lifting equipment rental and sales specialist, announces the launch of a used equipment sales and purchase service. Available inventory includes a wide selection of pre-owned and re-conditioned boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and carry deck cranes. Leading the Used Equipment Department is Mike Ferguson, used equipment manager.

Ferguson, who recently joined US Markets, brings more than 20 years of experience in sales management and new business development from several national lifting equipment sales and rental companies. Most recently, he served as territory manager for IronPlanet, a leading online marketplace for used construction equipment. Prior to that, he was VP of sales for Acme Lift, where he partnered with national and regional rental companies to negotiate strategic sourcing agreements in order to increase their rental revenue and equipment utilization.

Unlike most construction equipment auction sites, USM is an authority on aerial work platform and telescopic handler equipment. Working in coordination with the company’s re-rental, fleet, and restoration facility teams, the Used Equipment Department stays abreast of market demand and knows which equipment delivers the lowest total ownership costs. “Odds are good that we’ll have the equipment customers are looking for, but if we don’t, we will find it,” said Ferguson.

“Auctions are in business to achieve one goal - to sell each asset for the absolute top dollar with no regard for customer satisfaction or retention. USM is in business to provide our customers with the highest quality equipment at a fair price. Plus, we can offer our customers any level of re-conditioning they desire,” said Ferguson.

In addition to outright purchase, used equipment customers can rent with a purchase option (RPO), where a portion of the monthly re-rental fee is applied toward the equity of the equipment, or finance the purchase through a third-party or through USM. US Markets works with financing companies to provide easy application processes and competitive pricing to companies purchasing USM equipment. All used equipment, unless otherwise noted, is inspected for proper function by USM’s OEM-trained technicians. Reconditioned equipment features a 90 day warranty, and all sales feature a 72-hour money back guarantee. The current inventory includes equipment manufactured by JLG, Genie, Pettibone, P&H, Terex, and others. Coming soon will be the addition of quality used support equipment, such as trailers, and an extensive used parts inventory.

“Mike was tapped to manage our growing used equipment inventory because he is uniquely positioned to understand the rental industry’s needs. Previous success at managing millions of dollars in assets and overseeing new branch start-ups make him a valuable addition to the US Markets team,” said Chad Cochrane, General Manager.
