Milwaukee® RED HELIX™ Drill Bits stay sharper longer

Words: Katherine O'tooleMilwaukee Tool introduces the latest innovation in twist-drilling technology with their new line of SHOCKWAVE™ Titanium RED HELIX™ Impact Duty™ bits and Cobalt RED HELIX™ drill bits. Engineered to stay sharper longer, the new RED HELIX™ bits feature a Variable Helix™ flute geometry for faster material removal, a Chip Breaker™ to decrease heat build-up and a 135° split point to prevent walking.

“Users are frustrated with their current twist drill bits because they break or burn out at the tip and hinder productivity,” says Mark Senske, VP of Product Management for Milwaukee Tool. “Milwaukee’s new design features an aggressive 35° helix angle that varies along the flute, ending at 15°. Unlike a standard flute design, this limits heat build-up by providing rapid chip removal and allows the user to get more life out of their bit.”

Milwaukee® Shockwave™ Impact Duty Titanium Red Helix™ Twist Drill Bits are specifically engineered for use in impact drivers delivering up to 3X Life vs Black Oxide™ Twist drill bits. Along with the Variable Helix™ flute geometry for faster material removal, a Chip Breaker™ decreases heat build-up, and a 135° split point tip delivers a precision start and prevents walking for fast, accurate holes. Versatile enough to be used in all twist drilling applications, the Titanium offering will be available as an extension of the SHOCKWAVE™ Impact Duty line this fall.

Milwaukee® Cobalt Red Helix™ Drill Bits will be available in September 2015, and are engineered for extreme durability and long life in hard metal applications. Used more so in specialty drilling applications such as stainless steel, 4140 and cast iron, Cobalt Red Helix™ Drill Bits provide up to 10X more life than Black Oxide Drill Bits™.

With the launch of Titanium SHOCKWAVE™ and RED HELIX™ Cobalt drill bits, Milwaukee Tool demonstrates its continued commitment to delivering innovative accessory solutions to save time and increase productivity on the jobsite.
