Each year in January, World of Concrete puts on numerous events that help inform and innovate the industry out West in Las Vegas. The MCAA had its first inaugural party to introduce our new GEN NXT committee (formally known as South of 40), Damian Lang gave a phenomenal speech at the Keynote Speaker event, and the Fastest Trowel On the Block winner became a 2x champ.

This year’s Foreman Development Class was held on Sunday, January 21st, and Monday, January 22nd. Taught by Jameel Ervin, Donnie Williams, and Tom Vacala, who gave attendees instructional tactics to fulfill their duties and tasks as they move into their Foreman roles. Be sure to check back on www.masoncontractors.org for more information on upcoming classes and events this year.

Each year, the Mason Contractors Association of America presents the C. DeWitt Brown Leadman Award to an individual who has provided exemplary leadership in advancing the masonry industry.

This year, Damian Lang, industry thought leader, received the honor during the MCAA’s Annual Board Meeting on Monday, January 22nd.

All individuals who have received this prestigious award have demonstrated a tireless dedication to our industry through years of volunteer support and hard work. They have helped ensure our industry remains vital for the many people employed through masonry.

Shortly after the board meeting, the Contractor Round Table got underway. This meeting gives contractors a chance to speak about problems they’ve faced during the past year, ask and answer any questions they may have and give their advice to other contractors. Some of the topics discussed included:

  • Handling Business Policies
  • Diversifying Installation Capabilities
  • Buying/Renting Equipment
  • Involving Employees in Buying/Renting
  • MCAA Event Benefits
  • MCAA Meeting Schedule

The MCAA’s first GEN NXT event was held at Flight Club on Monday, January 22nd. With over 200 people attending, playing darts and socializing, the event was a huge success!

At our annual MAC PAC meeting, Congressman Brad Finstad from Minnesota spoke briefly about relevant industry news coming out of Washington D.C.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the MCAA booth was set up and ready to go for the week. On the show floor, the MCAA was accompanied by industry leaders, great members and even some new faces.

Huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and supported our Association!
