MASONRY STRONG Car Makes Nitro Rallycross Debut In Utah

Words: Jeff Buczkiewicz

The 2021 Nitro Rallycross Racing Series opened this past weekend at the Utah Motorsports Campus. The Mason Contractors Association of America is sponsoring a car this year in conjunction with several other industry sponsors, including: CrewTracks, EZG Manufacturing, Masonry Cosmetics, and SPEC MIX. The car is branded as the MASONRY STRONG car, which is part of the MCAA's new industry-wide initiative that aims to bring together all major stakeholders in the construction industry to better understand the benefits of masonry as both a building material and career path.

The car is driven by professional driver Lane Vacala, who is a former member of the masonry industry. The Utah Nitro RX race was a two-day event, which is typical for the series. On the first day, Lane claimed a spot on the winners' podium with a third-place finish. For the second day, Lane finished in fourth. The MASONRY STRONG Car is driven by Vacala as part of NRX's Nitro NEXT Class, which aligns with one of the campaign's goals of appealing to the younger generation to get involved in the masonry industry.

The next races are scheduled for:

  • October 2-3: ERX Motor Park, Elk River, MN
  • November 13-14: Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, Chandler, AZ
  • November 20-21: Glen Helen Raceway, San Bernardino, CA
  • December 4-5: Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park, Starke, FL

The MASONRY STRONG CAR is looking to bring attention to workforce development efforts and appealing to younger people as a recruitment tool. If you are interested in sponsoring the car, please reach out to Jeff at the MCAA office for more information. Call 800.536.2225 or email jeffb@masoncontractors.org.
