E & R Material Splitter
Accurate splitting of all types of building materials such as: brick, natural stone, concrete, and most refractories-without machine bounce or material explosion is easily accomplished with patented splitting splitting equipment manufactured by E & R Manufacturing Company, Inc., Kirklin, Indiana.
Every splitter features positive eccentric leverage through adjustable Contour-Matic tool steel blades to effect fracture pressure. The entire blade system is made from Carpenter #11 Special tool steel, supplied by Carpenter Technology Corporation of Reading, Pa. This Contour-Matic system adjusts instantly and automatically to material surface variations, executing straight line splits thereby eliminating wasteful break-out and cross-fracture.
The business end of every E & R materials splitter, whether an automated steel mill block splitter or a portable masonry splitter, is the exclusive individually self-leveling #11 Special tool steel blade system. This unique, interchangeable blade system allows any number of the knives making up the head to be removed and resharpened. Even if one blade is shorter than another it has no effect upon the operation of the head due to the self-leveling effect of the triangular wedges.
The complete line of E & R splitters ranges from a 4½" manually-operated portable splitter to a fully automated, 24" bladed, high speed machine with a production capacity of 4080 splitting cycles per hour. With automation growing by leaps and bounds in the construction industry, E & R is working at near capacity to fill the demand.
New Vacuum Lifter
A new vacuum-attachment lifter has been produced to solve the tricky problem of handling thin, precast concrete panel sections as well as lifting and replacing panels used for decks and plazas. The unit, produced by the Vac-U-Lift Division of Lear Siegler Inc., has a maximum capacity of 7,500 lbs. Special pads provide a positive grip on regular or broom-finished panel surfaces.
The 16-ft. long beam has five attachment pads and three lift sling eyes. A remote vacuum power source simplifies the design and use of the unit. Panels can be lifted in the horizontal or vertical position, making the unit ideal for lifting and positioning precast wall panels, etc. For more information on this unit and larger models, contact Lex Shuler, Marketing Manager; Vac-U-Lift Division of Lear Siegler, Inc.; P.O. Box 298; Salem, Illinois 62881
PRODUCT PROFIT MAKERS
Radiant Heater
New Draulics Inc. is now marketing a new radiant heater especially designed for concrete and building contractors. Called the "Omni-Heater, this compact unit is an adaptation of the company's successful orchard heater for frost protection. The principal advantage over other heating systems is in keeping heat low. The design prevents heat escaping in an inefficient vertical line.
Operating on either propane or natural gas, the Omni-Heater is smokeless and smudgeless. There is total combustion on all operating pressures. Installation is easy and fast, and as many units as needed may be linked together and operated from a central control by one man.
Additional information, technical data, and costs may be obtained by contacting New Draulics Inc., P.O. Box 1525, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110.
