Masonry Symposium
A Symposium on Masonry Research, Application & Problems has been scheduled for December 6, 1983 at the Sheraton Hotel, Bal Harbour, Fla. The program is jointly sponsored by Committees C-7 on Lime, C-12 on Mortars for Unit Masonry, and C-15 on Manufactured Masonry Units of ASTM, the internationally recognized standards development organization. Chairing the event will be John C. Grogan of the Brick Institute of America Region 9, Atlanta, Ga., and John T. Conway of Santee Cement Co., Holly Hill, S.C.

Glass Block Upsurge
Look around, and you'll no doubt notice that glass block are appearing in more and more dwellings as replacements for windows.

The reasons are several: they are good protection from burglars, since they are very difficult to break; they transmit light, while offering privacy, making them ideal for such areas as bathrooms, and their excellent insulating capacity is equal to that of a regular window-with-storm.

The cost is attractive, too about $30 to fill a 14 by 32-in. opening.
