Make Time for a Career Fair!

Words: Melissa AguiarAs soon as the school year starts, the calendar starts to fill up. From Open House to sporting events, you've got a full schedule. Make time to set a career fair date, however, before it's too late! Students respond to attending career events early in the school year because they can begin to explore ideas for after-school jobs, focus their class schedule around their chosen path, and make plans for after graduation.

While you're making your plans, notify the Mason Contractors Association of America, because we will send a representative of the Masonry industry. Even if you only have classroom of students who would appreciate learning from a hands-on interaction with masonry materials, we have a program for you. We will try to schedule a visitor for any day, at any school across the country from a well-informed industry affiliate.

There are masonry associates across the country that would like to come to your school, educate and answer any questions your students have about masonry as a career and how to get started. This presenter will speak about his first hand experience in the trade, and may bring materials and interactive supplies for your students to try.

Call the MCAA's Director of Workforce Development at 800-536-2225 with your request for a career day visit, email careersinmasonry@masoncontractors.org, or go to www.masoncontractors.org.
