Arizona Masonry Guild Announces Architectural Award Winners

Words: Deb LaschThe 16th Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards program honored its award winning buildings during a special awards banquet held Friday, October 26, 2007, at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. The program honored 11 projects for outstanding masonry design, workmanship and creativity with the use of brick, block, or stone.

The awarded projects are selected by an out of state panel of jurors. This year's panel was from Denver, Colorado. Joseph J. Poli, Humphries Poli Architects, P.C. was the Jury Chairman and participated in the awards presentation on Friday night. An award is presented to the architectural firm, the structural engineering firm, general contractor, masonry supplier and masonry contractor for each winning project.

This year's Gold Trowel winner (the top honor) is University of Arizona Roy P. Drachman Hall, located in Tucson.
